Challenges of Parenting a 5-Month-Old Baby Apr 21 , 2023

Teething

Babies usually start teething between 4 and 7 months of age, during which they may experience excessive drooling, swollen gums, decreased appetite, and increased oral sensitivity. They also tend to bite everything they can get their hands on, especially during breastfeeding, which can be painful for mothers. Babies with severe teething discomfort may become irritable, cry for no apparent reason, and have trouble sleeping at night, so it's important for mothers to help ease their baby's discomfort.

Solutions:

1. Prepare a cotton towel to wipe your baby's drool in a timely manner to prevent drool rash. Be gentle when wiping, without rubbing too hard, as the baby's skin is delicate.

2. Wet a piece of gauze with water and gently massage the baby's gums to relieve discomfort.

3. Prepare multiple teething toys for the baby to chew on, and consider chilling them in the refrigerator for a soothing effect.

4. Spend more time with the baby and take them out to play to distract them from the discomfort.
