Q: How tall can children of different ages grow each year?

A: Babies from 0 to 1 year old can grow about 25 cm a year.

From birth to 6 months of age, the height growth is about 1/2 to 1 inch (about 1.5 to 2.5 cm) per month; From 6 months to 12 months of age, the height growth is about 3/8 inch (about 1 cm) per month.

Babies from 1 to 3 years old will grow roughly 4 to 5 inches (about 10 cm to 12.7 cm) each year.

Babies between the ages of 3 and 4 are expected to grow about 3 inches (about 7.6 cm) per year .

After the age of 5, babies will grow about 2 inches (about 5 cm) per year until puberty.

Children’s height will probably go through two “golden periods”, one is the 0 to 3 years of age, and the other is the puberty stage (girls are from 8 to 13 years old, boys  from 10 to 14 years old).
