Do Newborns Need a Daily Bath? Mar 11 , 2022
Q: Do newborns need a daily bath?
A: It is not necessary.
The American Academy of Pediatrics(AAP) recommends that a wet, soft towel or bath sponge be used to wipe the baby before the umbilical cord falls off, and that it is more appropriate to wait until about 10 to 14 days after birth before giving the baby a real bath.
For the baby before crawling, parents do not need to give the newborn baby a bath every day, usually two or three baths a week is enough. Since the baby’s skin is delicate, frequent bathing and using too much shower gel will destroy oil protection of the skin itself and be easy to cause eczema and other skin problems.
