Weekly Activities for 2 Months Baby Feb 23 , 2024

Sometime during this month, your baby will begin making their first vowel sounds, like "oh-oh." They'll coo, gurgle, and sigh at you. Tummy time will start to pay off, as your baby will be able to hold their head up briefly when they're on their tummy and turn it from side to side. Aim for several short tummy time sessions every day.

Activities that involve touch, movement, music, and talking are popular among the 2-month-old crowd. Simply finding ways to talk to and hold your baby can help them learn about the surrounding world and their place in it.

Here are a few simple activities you can try with your 2-month-old:

1. Swat TeamUse strong string such as fishing line to dangle a rattle, a ball of wool, or a set of plastic measuring spoons just within swiping range: touchable but far enough away that your baby can't accidentally grab hold of it and yank it down. NoteMake sure you use objects that can't be choked on.

2. Switch Swatch: Gather a range of fabrics, from leather to silk to faux fur, and put them in a pile on the floor. Pick them up one by one and run them through your baby's hands, letting your baby tug and pet each one as your baby sees fit.

3. Sound Judgments: Gather a bunch of things you can make noise with, such as a piece of crinkly wrapping paper, a squeeze toy, or a waxed-paper bag. Sit or lie next to your baby and demonstrate each sound, varying the order so it's always surprising. Then put the noisemakers in your babys hand and help your baby make the sounds themselves.

4. Fingers and Toes: Begin by gently stroking your baby's hands. Concentrate on the backs of their hands, especially when theyre clenching them: Your touch may make your baby fingers ease open. Stroke to the end of each finger while commenting upon what you're doing.
