Breastfeeding
Ensuring an adequate milk supply and preventing spit-up and regurgitation are challenges that new mothers face.
Solutions:
1. For mothers who had a vaginal delivery, have the baby suckle on the breast within the first hour after birth to promote milk production.
2. Feed the baby every 2-3 hours, for a total of 8-12 times per day.
3. Burp the baby after feeding to expel swallowed air and reduce spit-up and regurgitation.
Jaundice
Almost every newborn experiences this.
Solutions:
1. Physiological jaundice: begins 2-3 days after birth, reaches its peak at 5-7 days, and gradually subsides by 10-14 days. Encourage the baby to eat and have regular bowel movements.
2. Breastfeeding jaundice: most cases do not require special treatment.
3. Pathological jaundice: appears within 24 hours after birth, accompanied by abnormal body temperature, vomiting, and unusual urine and stool color, requiring blue light therapy.
