Baby Crying and Fussiness

Babies may turn red in the face, squirm, kick their legs, whine, and cry inconsolably, especially in the evening, and may take a long time to settle down and sleep. This is a common problem among newborns caused by colic and intestinal cramps.

Solutions:

1. Feed the baby on a schedule, every 2-2.5 hours for at least 15 minutes.

2. Do not feed the baby when they are crying intensely to prevent them from swallowing more air and worsening colic.

3. Burp the baby after feeding.

4. Massage the baby's stomach clockwise and do exercises to release gas every time they wake up from a nap. Use baby massage oil to reduce skin friction.

5. Nursing mothers should avoid gas-producing foods such as cauliflower, broccoli, beans, and dairy products.

6. Ensure the correct feeding position to reduce the amount of air the baby takes in.

7. If bottle-feeding, release the air from the bottle before feeding with the vent hole facing up.
